LEDGER NANO X & NANO S

Ledger was one of the first hardware wallets along with KeepKey and Trezor that were released back in the day when most people still didn't know about crypto. Ledger was in fact the first brand to hit a million users in 2017 and was holding the leader position up until 2023. With a controversial upgrade, leaving a backdoor to extract private keys (and seed phrase) aimed at mainly novice users, the brand let down its core base and subsequently, its popularity has diminished. Most of the old users mgrated to other brands, which is the only reason we place it so low in our list of cold wallets. Still, it's a great brand though and their prices are decent. The X model is more advanced, but the S model is making a comeback due to its lack of the controversial firmware that allows for seed extraction.
